Silk is naturally dyed with madder root, and then painted with iron salt and pH modifiers.
This is an original, unique work of art. Can be purchased either framed or unframed (see details below.)
All of my artwork is created using natural fibers, and botanical dyes & pigments from plants & flowers that I either grow myself or forage locally. Occasionally I purchase pigments from other artists and growers from around the U.S. and the world. Sometimes I create pigments from organic food and compost scraps (AKA the remnants of my meals.) The color tells a story.
Please understand that this piece is made from natural botanical materials, and that the pigments may evolve over time due to exposure to sunlight and other environmental conditions, which is part of the artwork and ephemeral concept behind "living color." Avoid placing the artwork in a humid environment, and keep out of harsh direct sunlight.
PURCHASE OPTIONS (please select in drop-down menu):
--Framed - includes textile artwork mounted on archival paper in 11x14" wood frame with plexiglass to keep textile dry & dust-free, and backing board with hook ready to hang in your home. Width of frame is approximately 1/2", depth of frame from wall is 3/4"
--Unframed - you will receive the textile artwork mounted on archival paper. Textile is lightly tacked with thread to paper (11x14"), which can then be inserted into 11x14" frame of your choosing, or you can clip the threads to remove textile and frame professionally to any finished size. Do not use adhesives when framing the artwork as this will damage the textile over time.
Please allow 2-3 weeks processing time. Each piece is framed to order.
