WORKSHOP: Learn how to extend the color range of a single dye material by using metal salts and other pH modifiers, and how to use these modifiers to create painterly compositions for use on various dye projects. This workshop is for intermediate to experienced dyers, as these techniques are to be applied after pre-fixing (scouring + mordanting), and dyeing your fabrics.

Outline + takeaways from this workshop:
-understanding pH and metal salt modifiers
-understanding a plant's color range profile through modified color
-types of color pigments found in plants, and how they respond differently to modifiers
-layering and applying modifiers to create a painterly composition
-comparing various fiber types and how they react to painting with modifiers
-how to set and care for the dyed item
-PDF with resources for purchasing fabrics, dye materials, and instructions on how to replicate these techniques in your practice moving forward
-all participants will receive access to the recorded session, so if you cannot attend at this specific time you can watch later
